Well, if you’re looking a reliable car that’s fun to drive, gets great mileage, will last a looong time and gives you a great experience, this might be it. This was the only year that VW offered a TDI in this body. TDI components factory extended warranty is good till 2028 or 162k miles. I bought this as a VW CPO four years ago after diesel gate when it had 44k miles on it. It has 85k miles on it now and has had all of the diesel gate updates as well as all recommended services and oil changes at a local VW dealer. All receipts are included. My work responsibilities have changed and I no longer need to make an occasional long drive to a remote office. I’m a VW fan and really enjoy driving it, but I just don’t need this any longer. .If you have not had a diesel before, and this was my first one; it’s great. Yes, diesel costs a bit more than gas. But the average is only 20% more. It gets 37 mpg or so with all town driving, 42 mpg with a mix and 48 mpg or better if mostly interstate. That’s more than 20% better mileage then most cars, making it a lot cheaper to drive. And the engine will last far longer than most gasoline engines will. The DSG automatic transmission is smooth and is super quick in sport mode. That and the torque of the diesel are a great combination. It has all of the SEL features, such as the great deep front seats (full power driver, partial power passenger), black dash trim, heated mirrors, stability and traction control, ABS braking, emergency communication system (subscription with VW required, not currently active), illuminated entry, very nice interior lighting, back up camera, tire pressure monitoring, push button start, aluminum roof rails, panoramic sunroof, fog lights, dual zone automatic climate control, seat heaters, navigation, SiriusXM / Bluetooth / SD card stereo with Fender speakers and factory subwoofer. Both key fobs are included..Good things – I liked the way the factory 18” wheels looked, but they were rough on tires. I replaced those with the 17” wheels shown as well as Continental Contact tires in June of 2019. Tires and brakes have plenty of life left. I put a new battery in this past July. 80k service was done a while ago and it also just had an oil change. I had tint installed after I bought it and also added a rubber rear bumper cover. Vinyl logos shown on the outside of the windows and hatch can be removed before you pick up if you like..Bad things – a couple of dents and a scrape on the hood when I bought it. A couple of parking lot scrapes and dings since I’ve had it and a scratch on the leather steering wheel cover when getting the new wheels and tires installed.
